Drawing us in with rolling drums and a dark wave guitar soundscape, CS Hellmann opens Up Til Dawn with metaphorical prose as he sings, “Heaven knowns that I can’t wait, running in circles, I can’t escape…”
We immediately connect with the authenticity and vulnerability that CS Hellmann exudes, as well as his breathy and atmospheric vocal, and the instrumental mastery that accompanies the rising artist.
The opus expands with intentional depth, as CS Hellmann takes us through his insomniac’s reality, full of emotion and captivating harmonies. We appreciate the creator’s vocal timbre, and the dimensional range that he delivers.
Up Til Dawn is an immersive experience, and we love how the Nashville-based songwriter and guitar aficionado channels trauma into positive and calming energy. The overall output of the composition feels transcendental and cathartic, allowing us to heal in sync with CS Hellmann.
CS cites a range of influences including Madonna, Paula Abdul, Greenday, and Kurt Cobain, and confesses, “One of my earliest memories is listening to Beach Boys vinyls in my grandparents’ basement and to The Beatles in the car with my mom. She actually got to see The Beatles in concert and also introduced me to 60’s girl groups like The Supremes, The Crystals, The Ronettes, The Shirelles, Dusty Springfield.” We can certainly feel these inspirations come to life in CS Hellmann‘s skillset and output, but it is clear that he is carving a path of his own.
We have added Up Til Dawn to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream CS Hellmann‘s wider discography including Countryside, and Down the Hollow.
