Setting the tone with a subversive, and industrial energy, Terrificus open Decadent Sitcom with intrigue and dimensionality. The opus expands with textured depth to take us on an underground journey through the mindset and lived experience of the creators.
We immediately connect with the track’s lo-fi, metal adjacent vibe with dark wave nuance. The static elements only adds to the experience, and speaking on the release, the band confess, “It’s a dirty dance floor banger for people who don’t like pretty things but know how to have a good time.”
Speaking in more depth, vocalist Tyler comments, “The lyrics ‘I was working on walking. You were walking to work’ kick off this post-rom-com tale of bumbling into people that have dumped you. It’s about the triumph of another person’s good decisions with a backdrop of distorted garage-meets-the-dancefloor entropy for both the righteous and the dumped.”
He continues with vigour, “It’s as fucked in the head as it is fun. I guess…ummm…it’s an enjoyable dumpster fire? A pleasurable car wreck? A dancy disaster? Tragedies can be fun too, you know…”
We learn that Terrificus is comprised of Shaggy and Tyler (Face Command, MC Filth Wizard), an Eora/Sydney duo that’s been making industrial-dance-garage since 2019. They tell us that they “thrive on codependence, perfection, death and friendship.”
We appreciate the originality of what Terrificus are creating, and have added Decadent Sitcom to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the duo’s wider discography including Soft Hands!
