Setting the tone with a cerebral energy akin to a trip back in time to an ancient civilization, A Demon In Fun City open Badlands Neurology with intrigue and dimensionality.
The opus expands with astral textures, rolling toms and intricate percussion to create a cohesive and evocative tapestry of sound before exploding into a divergent and industrial, high octane mood which is completely captivating. We appreciate the instrumental mastery that A Demon In Fun City exude with this release, and love the ebbs and flows between peace and chaos.
We learn that A Demon in Fun City began as an accidental meeting online between best selling author Richard Kadrey and film composer BC Smith during the isolation of the pandemic. The pair confess that the connection turned into into a deep collaboration between two like-minded artists that wanted to explore their creativity.
Badlands Neurology is the first release from the duo’s upcoming album. The piece is mixed by sonic architect Bob DeMaa in Stereo, Binaural for headphones and Dolby Atmos, so make sure to listen with intention!
The track comes with a dynamic and psychedelic, illustrated music video which brings to life the composition in a highly engaging manner. Speaking on their artistry as a whole, the creators confess, “Badlands Neurology is about the world around us being alive, but not in some safe Disney kind of way. This is the high desert, a place millions of years old that can blast the flesh off your bones. It’s as intricate as a human brain with all its nerves and synapses firing.”
We love the universe that they are creating, and have added Badlands Neurology to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from A Demon In Fun City!
