Setting the tone with an immersive and elegant piano performance, Talia Grace opens Soliloquy with atmospheric vocals showcasing introspective and metaphorical lyrical depth as she sings, “I’m the only one alone in too many place, and I don’t know the faces of the people I see… and I feel like I’ve wasted all the love that I’ve given, cos they’re all out there living, doing fine without me…”
The opus expands into a luscious, acoustic-folk pop energy, with emotional authenticity as the rising artist from Austin, Texas, shares her soul and spirit with poetic prowess and the “grace” found in her moniker.
Speaking on the release of Soliloquy, the star confesses, “To put it simply, the song is about what makes life worth living, even when there are a lot of things that bring us down.”
We learn that the song came to life as Talia Grace was sitting alone at Austin staple, Radio Coffee and Beer. She was the only person there without a friend or a date or someone with whom to share her evening. That realization is what inspired the writing of the song.
We appreciate the vulnerability that it takes to share prose like this, but also love the way that the final output feels self-realized, cathartic and empowering.
The multi-instrumentalist cites Bon Iver, Don McLean, Adele, Sufjan Stevens, and Noah Gundersen as some of her influences, although it is clear that Talia Grace is creating a universe of her own!
We have added Soliloquy to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Talia Grace‘s wider discography including Melancholy, and Lemonade.
