Contact Light share metaphorical and emotionally intensive new single, Burnout

Establishing the mood with an atmospheric guitar performance and textured drums, Contact Light open Burnout with intrigue and the sound of a lighter illuminating, before expanding into clarity, with a luscious and dimensional alternative rock energy.

The opus showcases metaphorical, and meaningful prose, as the Contact Light deliver the evocative lyrics, “It’s hard to see the forest for the trees,
but now I come to think of it they probably weren’t for me, I try to grow flowers just to see if anything could ever be what it used to be, but still you always come around and give me your 100 degrees, so I’ll just breathe like a human would want to breathe, so I’ll just be like a human would wanna be…”

We are immediately enamoured by the concept of the song, and how the band convey poetic prowess and depth with their message. Speaking on the release of Burnout, the rising band from Philadelphia simply say, “The song is a letter to toxic ex-girlfriends and sh*tty friends and how they bum you out and are over them.”

Contact Light is comprised of singer, guitarist and bassist Joey Lantonio, along with guitarist William Johnston, and drummer Brandon MacDonald. We love the cohesive tapestry of sound that the trio deliver, and appreciate the range and emotive energy of the performances, both vocal and instrumental. The emotion that Joey shares with his voice is tangible, and the overarching message of the song is highly relatable.

We learn that Contact Light cite Waterparks, Blink-182, Twenty One Pilots, Mac Miller, Wallows, and Wage War as some of their influences, which we can feel come through on Burnout, although there is no doubt that the band are creating a universe of their own.

We have added Burnout to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Contact Light‘s wider discography, including their album, Disconnect!
