Setting the tone with an elegant, acoustic guitar performance and a textured riser, Moody Mac opens Stumbling with a cerebral vocal add lib, followed by a dimensional guitar soundscape. Needless to say, we are in awe.
The rising star from Munich in Germany sings, “Outside, wasted, awesome night, let’s do it again…”, as he takes us on an evocative adventure. He is joined by YAW on the track, who adds value with her presence for the narrative of the piece, and shares a luscious vocal timbre.
We learn that Stumbling is “a nostalgic story of two souls meeting under the lights of the night sky”, and we love the experiential nature of Moody Mac‘s songwriting, and his charismatic delivery.
Moody Mac confesses, “Stumbling describes the meeting of two party goers. They meet each other one night and immediately connect, they indulge in drinks and mind altering activities and ultimately decide that they both want to replay the night they had with each other and have that type of fun again.”
Speaking on the sonic design of the opus, Moody Mac says, “The music styles that inspired this release come from punk-emo, and hip hop roots”, he also cites influences including Lil Wayne, Boys Like Girls, Paramore, Mayday Parade, All Time Low, and Machine Gun Kelly”, whilst his collaborator on the track, YAW takes her influence from artist like SZA, Jake Harlow, Tee Grizzley, and Tate McRae. Together, it is clear that Moody Mac and YAW are creating a sound of their own.
We appreciate the creative output, and have added Stumbling to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Moody Mac‘s wider discography including Any Longer, and Running.
