Katanak takes us on a romantic trip with evocative new single, Lights of Tokyo

Setting the tone with an immersive frequency and rising guitar soundscape, Katanak opens Lights of Tokyo with a charismatic vocal and situational prose, taking us on a narrative based journey to Japan through the the medium of romance. Needless to say, we are in awe.

The opus expands with poetic prowess and a refined sonic architecture, with luscious astral harmonies and instrumental mastery. Speaking on the concept of the piece, Katanak confesses, “Lights of Tokyo was written after my friend told me the story of meeting someone out one night in Tokyo. I wanted to convey that ‘wow’ moment when you lock eyes with someone, and you just click.”

He continues with depth, “I wanted to capture the excitement and energy of being in a foreign city, not being able to speak the language, and being swept up in that atmosphere of meeting someone new.”

With reference to his influences, the star cites “modern rock inspiration from The 1975, The Wombats, and COIN”, although it is clear that Katanak is creating a universe of his own.

We love the concept and journey that Katanak takes us on with Lights of Tokyo and have added the song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Katanak‘s wider discography including Take Us Back, Weigh Down, and Valentine!
