We previously featured rising talent Nick Kandler for his emotive single, Stay, the honest and vulnerable, Kill You Slowly, and the optimistic and inspiring, Good Life, so when we heard that he had just released, Something for the Weekend, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Establishing the mood with an elegant guitar soundscape, Nick opens Something for the Weekend with charm and a textured riser before he shares his exquisite falsetto. We immediately connect with the relatability fo the message and the poetic prowess and unique brand of storytelling that Nick Kandler delivers.
What we love about Nick Kandler is his ability to convey a message with metaphorical references, and a cohesive tapestry of sound. His range is broad, and the emotional depth and charisma that he shares on his songs is perfect for so many TV synch opportunities, we can only imagine what the future has to hold for the star.
The single artwork is an incredible polaroid at night, shot by the multi-disciplinary artist himself. We learn from Instagram that Nick wrote the song with Tyler Sheppard and King Wizard, as he says to his collaborators, “These voice memos I found got me reminiscing back to when we first wrote this joint.” Before addressing his audience with the enthusiastic, “This one’s been in the vault for a [little] while now and I’m happy to finally share it with you. I hope you love it as much as I do!”
Something for the Weekend holds a euphoric and playful energy, and we cannot get enough of is, so naturally we have added the song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Nick Kandler‘s wider discography!
