Setting the tone with a textured bassline, Amelie Blake opens Hunting Games with evocative lyricism and atmospheric vocals as she sings, “We’ve been playing hunting games, he’s got me, oh oh… I’m a hunter, he’s the prey he wants me oh oh, all I know is when he takes me home, there’s a man and a wolf, and I’ve got to have both…”
We immediately appreciate the metaphorical journey that the star is taking us on, her poetic prowess, raw authenticity and the charisma with which she shares her prose. The opus expands into luscious alternative pop energy with immersive harmonies, and needless to say, we cannot get enough.
We learn that Hunting Games is designed to explore “the masculine and the feminine aspect of the hunter and the prey.” Amelie worked with electric guitarist Chris Twigg to bring the song to life, and we can imagine that fans of Cat Power would be able to connect with the composition, although it is also clear that Amelie Blake is creating a universe of her own.
With a string of Hollywood movie trailers under her belt, Amelie’s songs have been featured in Breathe, My Days of Mercy, Netflix, Sky, BBC, ITV and many others. She’s worked with various major music publishers including BMG, providing music for sync and advertising, TV and radio.
We deeply appreciate what the rising star is creating, and have added Hunting Games to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream her 2020 debut single, Let the Words Unfold, and anticipate future releases from Amelie Blake!
