The talented Romain Gutsy has fast become one of our favourite artists, so when we heard that the French star had released a song, confidently titled, I’m James Bond, we were curious to say the least!
Setting the tone with a soundscape in line with the melody of the iconic film franchise’s theme tune, Romain opens with the affirmative lyrics, “I’m James Bond, I’m zero zero seven, I’m a British spy, I’m working for Mrs The Queen, I’m James Bond, from the UK empire…”
The opus expands with an alternative folk meets ska energy, as Romain Gutsy sings from the perspective of the famous spy. We learn that the song is taken from Romain’s album, Numero 2, which is also released today!
The overall output from the song is empowering, as we take on the role of the super spy, vicariously through Romain, and experience what life is like being “iconic” and “supersonic”, working for HM The Queen!
Romain Gutsy‘s quirky and charismatic energy is something that certainly has us hooked. The French-born multi-disciplinary artist started his career in the 90s, singing and playing accordion with French bands such as Les Affamés, or guitar in the Celtic band Daffy Plays Mandola, as well as playing with more famous artists such as the Grammy award winner alt-Rock band, Soul Asylum, or American singer, Calvin Russel.
Following his epic 2022 album, When Leonard Met Dolly, we now have the pleasure of experiencing Numero 2 in full, and have added I’m James Bond to our New Music Spotlight playlist!
