By now you will know that we are huge fans of the talented Robbie Rapids, having featured a slew of his previous releases including Love of Your Life and Rock Ain’t Dead! So naturally, when we heard that the star had just released Turn Back Around, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back!.
Drawing us in with a melodic and refined classic rock soundscape, Robbie Rapids opens Turn Back Around with instrumental mastery and the presence of his co-collaborators Stephen K on piano, organ, and strings, whilst Scott Jacobs plays drums, and Ralph Crabtree shares his skill on lead guitar, as well as guest star Dani Macchi on electric guitar and keys!
Robbie sings introspectively and reassuringly, “When you walk in my streets, are you guided by your own two feet? When you talk on my phone, who hears you when you’re all alone?”
We can always count on Robbie Rapids to share a thought-provoking and meaningful narrative, and we appreciate the journey that he takes us on with his words and wisdom on Turn Back Around. Speaking on the message of the song, Robbie Rapids confesses, “Turn Back Around is about self-reflection and needing to change direction in life. It’s my own self-motivational song and I hope it inspires others.”
Elaborating on the message of Turn Back Around, Robbie Rapids adds “This song took a different approach to recording as I wanted the song to be different from the rest of my released songs. For this song I worked with musicians I’ve perform live with for the past three years and we began rehearsing this song idea and added it to the rotation for about 3 months. However, the song didn’t finalize until I began to work with the producer and mixer Dani Macchi who made the song reach his vision. As an added bonus, Danni can also be heard playing electric guitar & keyboard pads on the song.”
We love the guitar solo which provides for a meditative respite, as well as the emotive middle eight, before an anthemic final reprise. We deeply connect to what Robbie Rapids conveys with his art, and the cohesive tapestry of sound that he had created with his collaborators. We have added Turn Back Around to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Robbie’s existing discography!
