We recently featured Nicholas Dante for his evocative sophomore release, Breathe, so when we heard that the rising star and social media phenomenon had just dropped Filthy, we were intrigued to say the least!
With a textured riser and sensual down pitched vocals, Nicholas Dante opens Filthy with a moody bassline and situational prose, as he takes us on a subversive adventure singing, “Welcome to the royal ball, we’ve got what you came here for… Lay everything on the floor, no you don’t need no clothes…”
Speaking on the release of Filthy, Nicholas confesses, “The track takes the listener behind the curtain to reveal what mischievous things could go on in the dark.” We learn that the track is inspired by the Stanley Kubrick movie Eyes Wide Shut, and needless to say, we cannot get enough!
We love the mystery and dark aura that Nicholas creates, once again reminiscent of Britney Spears‘ lesser known Chaotic and Mona Lisa eras, and of course, Blackout. He seductively asks, “Do you want to get filthy? Do you want to play with me?”
The answer is a definitive, yes! The layered harmonies and add libs are magnetic, and the bright percussion really shines through on the drops, as the opus features vocal glitches and choral nuances.
Before branching out musically, Nicholas Dante established his growing social media presence, and has amassed thousands followers across all platforms. It’s no surprise that he has already had his songs featured on Grindr’s playlists, and is growing a dedicated following for his authentic artistry.
The Brooklyn based singer credits Britney Spears, Madonna, and Janet Jackson as inspirations, which we can absolutely feel come though in his dark pop sound! We have added Filthy to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Rebellion, as well as Breathe and it’s remixes, and anticipate future releases from Nicholas Dante!
