We adore a philosophical concept at K, I’M U HQ, so when we heard that Jaime Travezán has just released a song called Straight People Can Be Cured, we were curious to say the least.
The opus opens with cerebral percussion textures and an atmospheric energy as the artist delivers compressed vocals, before a galactic synth riser sends us soaring and back down to Earth.
Subversive and experimental vocals surround us with an almost Biblical chant energy as the protagonist whispers in our ears the provocative title of the track. We experience breaths, grunts, psychedelia and strings, with warped percussive elements, akin to an ASMR-hybrid brain washing session and needless to say, we stan.
The mainstream accepting that sexuality is a spectrum is much needed in today’s age of oppression and violence toward those who identify public as LGBTQ+. The deplatforming of heterosexuality’s the default is a necessity, and what Jaime Travezán offers with his release is a step towards equality. For that, we appreciate his effort.
Speaking on the release, the rising star confesses, “I just released my album Everybody Is So Funny where the tracks are meant to make anyone to have a smile or laugh. Is a mix of EDM with House and Lounge tracks, which are my favourites genres.”
He continues, “I think that normal people live nowadays under very heavy pressures. The idea of this album is to forget those moments and be a little bit silly. This song, Straight People Can Be Cured is a cheeky track inspired by vengeance about the many times I heard in my teens the phrase, ‘homosexuality can be cured’.”
We have added Straight People Can Be Cured to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Jaime Travezán‘s album, Everybody Is So Funny!
