Establishing the mood with a pulsating beat, astral vocal textures and sensual add libs, Spalk opens Forgot On Monday with intrigue, dimensionality and atmospheric vocals with a philosophical concept.
The opus expands with a masterful design to unveil a dynamic deep house energy, as we are taken on a journey of freedom and optimism. We appreciate the vibrant soundscape and the cerebral design of the vocals is tangible. Mid way through the piece we experience a meditative respite with enigmatic synth melodies and rising textures, before the visionary producer delivers a bassline crescendo and an addictive reprise.
The almost ASMR commentary on the system allows us to re-experience the passion of living for the weekend. Speaking on the message of the song, Spalk confesses, “Forgot On Monday is about enjoying the Friday’s weekend, when we go out for party, or meet friends.” The star inspires us by charmingly saying, “Don’t think about the Monday!”
We appreciate the intricacy and sonic architecture that Spalk delivers with the composition, and the relatable and inspiring intention behind his art. The single artwork is phenomenal and a great reflection of the technical nuance that Spalk also exhibits as a producer.
We have added Forgot On Monday to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Spalk‘s wider discography including Gmblerei, and High on Low.
