Drawing us in with a count in and a vibrant and masterful guitar soundscape, Gary Dranow opens Day I Was Born with a sense of timelessness and instrumental prowess.
A narrative unfolds as the visionary artist takes us on a journey though his life and purpose, filled with anecdotes, charm, and the charisma that we have come to love from the artist, as well as his depth, authenticity and multiple guitar solos!
As always, the cohesive tapestry of sound that accompanies the legend is refined, magnetic and sonic perfection in its own right. For that, we are always grateful to Gary Dranow and his talented collaborator, Jerry Manfredi.
Speaking on the release of Day I Was Born and his collaborators, Gary says confidently, “In this song with the solid rhythm foundation of Jerry Manfredi and Jethro Defries, I was really able to strtech out on my guitar soloing. The group and had a faboulus time recording this song in one take. The fantastic keyboard work of Tommy Mars (Frank Zappa Band) fills out the song nicely.”
