Setting the tone with an immersive and expansive dance pop energy, Naked Face open Eyes in Love with atmospheric vocals, intricate keys and a pulsating beat with cerebral glitches and dimensional nuance.
The opus expands into a meaningful and danceable trip, laced with authenticity and poetic prowess. The duo from Australia, comprised of singer and songwriter Steve Silk, and producer and bassist Luke House, confess that the record touches on themes of “heartbreak, betrayal and addiction.”
We appreciate the vocal harmonies, the super catchy hook, “wish you had a soul” (I mean, who doesn’t?), and the vocal range exhibited by Steve. We learn that Steve wrote the song about his “struggles with a deteriorating, tumultuous, relationship whilst also battling a severe post-surgical opioid addiction.” Turning one’s pain in to power is highly cathartic work, and that is just what Eyes in Love feels like.
The rising stars tell us, “The purpose of releasing Eyes in Love was to reach out and help the millions of people suffering similar experiences, to show them that they’re not alone and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
We have added Eyes in Love to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Naked Face, including Coming Home, and If in Doubt.
