Drawing us in with an intricate guitar performance and rhythmic, atmospheric vocals singing the title of the track, Cindy Pooch opens O Se Yatè with intrigue and emotional depth. The opus expands with luscious vocal harmonies as Cindy Pooch shares evocative prose, laced with poetic prowess, metaphorical depth and philosophical nuance.
Born in France, we learn Cindy grew up in Cameroon before moving to Lyon to study literature while developing her passion for music. We are in awe of her vocal timbre, and the charismatic passion with which she shares her universe.
In addition to O Se Yatè, we cannot get enough of her music video for Issemou, which is also the title of the EP that is out now! The visual sees the icon take a stroll through the streets of Kampala (Uganda), and is directed by Julien Oska Colardelle on the sidelines of the Nyege Nyege festival. It features amazing performances by Exocé Existe, Zai and Nana, Miziguruka!
We have added O Se Yatè to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the whole of the Issemou EP, and connect on a deeper level with the visionary Cindy Pooch!
