Setting the tone with a textured riser and cerebral vocal detailing, The Crystal Teardrop open Nine Times Nine with a luscious guitar soundscape and the assertive lyrics, “Why is it so funny when I tell you that I’m through running around, spending time looking out for you…”
The opus expands into a dimensional and intriguing retro-psychedlic energy, as the brand new rising band from The Midlands share their poetic prowess, emotional depth and instrumental mastery.
We learn that the lyrics are designed to narrate dilemma, “contemplating a life-changing decision”, and feature metaphorical and situational constructs that allow an open interpretation at the same time as delivering a sense of catharsis for both the creators and audience.
The Crystal Teardrop features Alexandra Rose Mason on guitar, mandola, and vocals, whilst Leon Jones performs lead guitar, Stuart Gray shares his skill on the organ, Caitlin Hare performs bass and vocals, and Connor Wells plays drums.
The four creatives are inspired by “a mutual passion for the sights, sounds and creative experimentation of the mid to late 1960s”, and needless to say, we are in awe. Their unique fusion of garage rock, psychedelia and acid folk creates a cohesive tapestry of sound that we cannot get enough of!
The band cite The Beatles, The Kinks, The Great Society, and The Byrds as some of their references, but there is no doubt that The Crystal Teardrop are creating a universe of their own.
We appreciate what The Crystal Teardrop are creating, and we have added Nine Times Nine to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the rising stars!
