Establishing the mood with atmospheric vocals from Marisa Frantz and an intricate piano soundscape, Michael Peloso opens That Will Be Me with the emotive lyrics, “When you look to the mountains in the distance, or stare out into the deep blue sea, when you see the breath of the wind blowing, just know that will be me…”
The opus expands with conscious depth, to deliver an inspiring message of connection beyond the physical realm. Speaking on the release, Michael Peloso confesses, “Five years ago, I almost died from a tumour that ruptured in my colon. I had Stage IV colon cancer.”
The artist continues, “While recovering in the hospital I wrote the lyrics for my two daughters. I didn’t know if I was going to make it. If I didn’t, I wanted them to know that I would somehow be there for them. I wanted them to know that they would never be alone. Somehow, I’d be there. I believe we’re never truly gone. It’s also a message of hope. There will always be someone there in your time of need. Never give up!”
We appreciate the authenticity and poetic prowess shared with That Will Be Me. The relatable nature of the lyricism holds an optimistic and expansive energy. The instrumental architecture is exquisite with Michael Peloso performing piano himself, co-production by Matthew Shell, Yoed Nir on cello, Hector Ruano on bass, and Sami Turunen performing guitar!
The composition comes with an instrumental version, a LoFi instrumental version, and a stripped version. We have added the original of That Will Be Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist whilst we also stream the other editions and Michael Peloso‘s wider discography!
