As huge fans of Love Ghost, we were super stoked to have the chance to listen to the band’s latest single, Jealousy. Setting the tone with an enigmatic and moody guitar melody and cymbal details, Love Ghost open Jealousy with atmospheric vocals and the introspective lyrics, “Spent a lot of night unnoticed, that’s why I need your focus, can I have some of your time? Cos you don’t ever leave my mind… and I can’t even run away from you, cos that will just fuck me up too…”
The situational theme of the song is super relatable, and we are transported into the mind of creator and artist Finnegan Bell, as he shares his authentic feelings and depth through the medium of a grunge-rock sonic architecture and profound prose. Needless to say, we are in awe.
We can always count on Love Ghost to deliver a cohesive tapestry of sound with a timeless, yet contemporary vibe. Speaking on the release, Finnegan confesses, “I’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve, and being this passionate can hurt at times.”
The star continues, “I can be a people pleaser for people that don’t care as much about me, and I’m trying to get out of that unhealthy habit. I had recently been betrayed and a lot of old insecurities and PTSD was brought up because of that.”
He tell us, “I wrote Jealousy to cope with what I was going through but also allow people to feel like they weren’t alone with what they’re going through. A lot of people have experienced similar things to what I went through like loneliness, rejection and being lied too. I hope this song acts as a mental bandage for them in some way.”
We love the intention and wisdom that Love Ghost convey with the opus, and how the track builds with intricate design before a meditative middle eight, tapping into the raw emotion of the message of the song. The music video is visually astounding and Finnegan’s performance is mesmerizing. We connect with the cerebral and astral sonic nuances as the rising legend sings, “I would move the stars if I had to”, before an anthemic final reprise.
Jealousy has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Love Ghost‘s wider discography including Closure, and Chains.
