Setting the tone with an enigmatic synth melody and dimensional bassline with glistening guitar and evocative strings, Charlie Jefferson opens Alone Time with intrigue and charm.
The opus expands into an immersive chillwave meets folktronica hybrid experience, needless to say, we are in awe. The cinematic nature of the composition is tangible, and the emotional journey that the artist takes us on is refined and expansive.
Speaking on the release of Alone Time, the rising artist from Edinburgh confesses, “[It’s] straight from the heart [and] captures the mixed emotions of a turbulent time in my life, a simultaneous mixture of grief and positivity for the future.”
Elaborating on the inspiration behind Alone Time, Charlie says, “At the time of writing this piece I was coming to terms with a future as a childless man and this inspired the track’s name. Following unsuccessful IVF, my partner and I have more ‘alone time’ on our hands than most of our friends and family members.”
The talented creator continues, “I feel this piece somehow expresses the strange mixture of feelings that I have about this; melancholy, wistfulness and at times grief, alongside contrasting feelings of optimism, joy and positivity about the freedom and opportunities that all this alone time allows.”
We feel the authenticity come though in his message, and the intricacy of the middle eight before the final reprise is magnetic. Alone Time has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Charlie Jefferson‘s wider discography including Smoky Mountains, and indeed his entire album, Memories of America.
