Rising superstar Frank Joshua, who is also one of the hardest working artists in the industry, just released Millionaire, and needless to say, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back!
Setting the tone with a meditative synth crescendo, expanding into a cerebral wail, Millionaire opens with dynamic subversion and a textured beat, as the visionary artist delivers a narration with sung moments as he takes us on a thought-provoking journey.
Speaking on the message of the release, Frank confesses, “Millionaire is a song about finding love in adversity, under the harsh light of disapproval and condemnation.”
We appreciate the immersive nature of the opus, and the elegant piano performance within the composition. Frank shifts between spoken word and singing, which is all kinds of amazing. We learn that this is Frank’s “sensual and provoking exploration of the forbidden, and the release from constraint”. He poses the question, “Haven’t you ever desired something you shouldn’t have?”
Frank Joshua‘s unique brand of storytelling really shines on Millionaire and the song really taps into his introspective nature, which in turn has a ripple effect into his audience.
Millionaire comes with a super engaging music video by Diego Monfredini which showcases a series of Frank’s “faces” performing the song. The visual is high tech and psychedelic-adjacent, as we shift through the universe experiencing the star’s magnitude through hypnotizing CGI.
Anecdotally, Frank tells us “Apple Music tagged this release as the algorithm took offence at the lyric; ‘Where’s my fags, Shut your face.'” He confirms, “In the UK ‘fags’ means cigarettes.”!
We have added Millionaire to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Frank Joshua’s ever growing discography and anticipate his IRL face reveal!
