Drawing us in with an immersive soundscape and glistening nuances, The Bergamot open L.A. with intrigue, dimensionality and atmospheric vocals with the situational prose, “She left L.A. with a song in her head, Elle left L.A. and off she went, she left for the city with the stars in her eyes, Elle left L.A. and she doesn’t know why, so she’s moving on, by the time I write this song, she’ll be gone…”
We were first enamoured with the vocal design and emotive storytelling from The Bergamot as they share lyricism about the muse of the track leaving the city of Los Angeles.
The opus comes with an evocative and cinematic music video directed by one half of the duo, Nathaniel Paul Hoff. The Bergamot is an American indie rock band, consisting of Nathaniel, along with Jillian Speece. We learn that the duo met in South Bend at Marian High School, where they started making music together!
We love the way that Nathaniel and Jillian’s voices harmonize and the ethereal nature of their delivery, which is simply transcendental, creating a cohesive and enchanting tapestry of sound. Fans of Cage the Elephant, Animal Collective, and The Lumineers might be able to connect with their artistry, although it is clear that The Bergamot are creating a universe of their own.
L.A. has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the duo’s wider discography including their album, Mayflies, in full.
