Setting the tone with an enigmatic guitar riff, a pulsating rhythm guitar and a haunting wail, MADAME NEPTUNE open The Banshee with intrigue, dimensionality and atmospheric vocals.
Having recently featured the rising duo’s single, The Ghost in Me, we knew that we were in for a metaphorical ride with The Banshee, and it’s safe to say that MADAME NEPTUNE do not disappoint!
We appreciate the drama and the intensity of the soundscape as the pair encourage us to “run away”. Speaking on the release, MADAME NEPTUNE confess, “The Banshee is a dark, witchy, irish folklore about a ghosty woman.”
The creators continue with depth, “She appears as a foreshadowing of death or other bad events. We are all struggling with dark prophecies that we impose on us. This song is the personal catalyst with this eternal fight and in best case the banshee never appears again, but no one can guarantee.”
The high concept artistry that the duo from Chemnitz in Germany share is tangible. We learn that MADAME NEPTUNE is “not just about music, it is also characters telling stories, audiobooks, photography and videos within exhibitions, sculpting and other mixed media art beneath.”
We adore their hybrid occult meets psychedelic rock style, and have added The Banshee to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of MADAME NEPTUNE including Shine, and Spell on You.
