We recently featured the genius work of rising artist Proklaim as he showcased his fierce flow and cemented his artistry on Sparrow, so when we heard that the star had just released, SOMEBODY, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back.
Drawing us in with glistening, astral bells and an enigmatic bassline with cerebral production nuances, Proklaim opens SOMEBODY with a charming choral energy before we experience his immersive flow and evocative mindset.
Speaking on the message of his prose, Proklaim, who hails from Windhoek in Namibia, confesses that SOMEBODY is “about [the] pursuit of one’s purpose…”. This is a running theme in the artist’s discography, as he consistently shares self-realized lyricism and tangible depth with what he conveys.
We appreciate the cohesive tapestry of sound that he has created with the opus, in collaboration with Lu Diaz who mixed the track, and Chris Athens who worked on mastering the composition.
Proklaim cites Nas, Tupac, Biggie, Eminem, Drake, and Lauryn Hill as some of his influences, but there’s no doubt that what the visionary artist is creating is unique to his own brand of potent hip-hop.
We have added the evocative SOMEBODY to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Proklaim‘s wider discography including Priceless, Runnin and Sparrow.
