Setting the tone with an intricate, rising industrial bassline and a pulsating beat with percussion and electronica nuances, MedsE opens Hounds with intrigue and dimensionality.
The opus expands with a charismatic vocal delivery in a hybrid-British accent as our protagonist delivers the situational and subversive prose, “Could have been a footballer, if I didn’t lay around I’d still fool ya, I’d better find a good lawyer, cos I’m about to kidnap and cuckhold ya…”
We are in awe of MedsE‘s flow and poetic prowess as he takes us on an evocative and high octane trip. Speaking on the message of Hounds, the artist, who also known as Mats Edenius, confesses, “The song is describing, with a good portion of humor, being born in the 90s and not being able to really understand the rap kids are listening to nowadays and that there is a dream of getting rich and successful.”
The rising star from Malmö in Sweden continues with reference to the intention of the track, “This is semi-dark but with a huge grain of humour embedded that will both make you want to hit the dancefloor and laugh at the lyrics.”
We love MedsE‘s plethora of cultural references laced into Hounds, and the artist cites Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Deadmau5, Justice, and even Mr.Oizo as influences, which we can feel come though in the composition, although it is clear that MedsE is creating a universe of his own.
The talented producer tells us that he first was introduced to Cubase at the age of six, which is an incredible story, and one can hear a life time’s experience in the sound design of his music.
We have added Hounds to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we stream MedsE’s wider discography including Maverick, Take a Tour, and Spandex.
