Setting the tone with a luscious and dynamic guitar soundscape, Swedish Knightingales open Never See Her Again with intrigue and emotive prose as they share the introspective, yet situational words, “Two years gone by, still feel the same, just don’t know why, anymore…”
The opus expands with an Americana-Country hybrid energy as the Los Angeles-based band share their depth and perspective. Speaking on the message of the song, Swedish Knightingales confess, “Never See Her Again is a song about forbidden attraction and its fleeting nature. It is also about how that forbidden love fell apart.”
We appreciate the poetic prowess and dimensional soundscape that the band deliver with their message. Elaborating on their artistry as a whole, the band tell us, “Most of the songs we write are based off of storytelling and it’s very difficult to tell the true stories from the tall tales. We really love Irish story songs. It’s the best way to remember. We also dig music from all eras until now. This band is really an amalgamation of it all from 60s until now.”
They cite Allman Brothers, 90s Grunge, Irish Folk, Outlaw Country, Bluegrass, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughn as some of their sonic influences, which we can feel come through in Never See Her Again, but it is also clear that Swedish Knightingales are creating a universe of their own.
The band is comprised of Witewolf on vocals, guitar, and production, and Sean ‘Yard Dog’ Smith who writes the songs and performs guitar. We learn that Never See Her Again features the full band including Kenny Lockwood (Edge of Paradise, Trendkill Revolution) on bass, Felipe Restrepo on drums, Derek Sherinian (Sons of Apollo, Planet X, Dream Theater) on keyboards, and Daniel Restrepo (FastO) sharing background vocals.
We love the trip that Swedish Knightingales take us on, and have added the evocative anthem to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their debut single, You Belong With Me.
