Setting the tone with textured drums and a vibrant and high octane guitar soundscape, Roger Ricks opens What A Place with atmospheric vocals and metaphorical, yet situational prose. We immediately appreciate the poetic prowess of the lyrics and vocal timbre of the artist, fused cohesively with a luscious, rock soundscape. Laced with charisma and depth, Roger Ricks shares introspective words about the state of society.
Speaking on the meaning of What A Place, the rising star from Zurich confesses, “It’s a powerful anthem with a message that will resonate with listeners of all ages.”
We learn that the lyrics are penned by Emme Pierre, who was unable to perform the song due to illness. The song is designed as “a call to action to make the world a better place for future generations.” All proceeds from the single will even be donated to children in need!
Elaborating further, Roger confesses, “There are several difficulties in the world at the moment, that makes it hard to stay positive all the time. I try to show this every day struggle but also give some hope an encouraging the people to stay together and try to continue the fight.”
Roger cites Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, and The Black Crowes as some of his inspirations, although it is clear that the talented artist is creating a universe of his own.
We love the message and depth of the song, as well as the out-of-this-world guitar solo and build before the final reprise, which has us reaching for the repeat button.
Naturally, What A Place has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Roger Ricks including Even When You Are Gone, and Lost.
