We have been intently following the growth of Carter Fox as he translated his passion for space into the powerful and immersive single, Cosmic Sunrise, and transported us to another dimension with the transcendental, Space Island, so when we saw that the star had released Rise, needless to say we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back.
Setting the tone with intricate percussion and tribal drums with a whirring bassline, Rise opens with the dimensionality we have come to expect from Carter Fox with an immersive, panning synth that has us in awe.
The composition has a meditative energy, akin to being transported into a DMT trip. Glistening nuances and cymbal crashes draw us in further, as the overarching soundscape builds with tension.
We appreciate the cohesive tapestry of sound that Carter Fox creates on Rise, laced with intricacy and dynamism. We learn that the artist was motivated by the question “What does the universe sound like?” when creating the song, and we absolutely love the result. It feels expansive and technically refined.
Rise is the first single from Carter Fox‘s upcoming EP titled, Lost Signals From Outer Space, and a slew of singles are expected before the record is unveiled in full! The artist tells us that the EP is “a collection of works inspired by the idea of finding an alien sound signal broadcasting from deep space”.
Carter Fox has been an active musician, songwriter, producer and artist since the young age of fifteen. His style of “chill-fi” music is inspired by a passion for astronomy and a deep love for video games. He is a protege of world-renowned bassist Gerald Veasley and has worked with award-winning, legendary, and amazing artists and producers such as Freddie Jackson, Leon Huff (of Gamble & Huff), Pablo Batista, David Ivory, Ori Rose, OddKidOut, Moses Mosima, Joe Kenney, and more.
We love the authenticity and philosophical nature of Carter Fox‘s work, and have added Rise to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography and anticipate future releases!
