Setting the tone with a textured riser and atmospheric vocals, Kejcz opens Set Me Free with intrigue as he sings the evocative prose, “I’m stuck in your soul, you’ll never let me go, why can’t you just set me free, set me free…”
The opus expands into an immersive, alternative pop vibe with EDM adjacency to inspire freedom and autonomy, at the same time as being “stuck” in a situation. We love the beat drop and glitched vocals, which have a dimensional edge, and the way that the message of the song is conveyed.
The rising artist from Łódź in Poland teamed up with Basia Kolasa who provided additional vocals for the track, allowing us to connect with the duality of the song on a much deeper level.
Speaking on the creative journey of the song, Kejcz confesses, “The original was created in the second half of 2021. First the bass line was created, then the idea clarified.”
The star continues, “My publisher suggested I add vocals to the instrumental. I got along with Basia and at the end of the year in Marek Dulewicz‘s studio she added some magic. Due to a serious accident in 2022, I had to postpone the premiere.”
We appreciate the authenticity that Kejcz shares with his story, and the final outcome of the track, which we have added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Kejcz‘s wider discography including Gone for Good, and DR. Jekyll.
