Setting the tone with a dimensional electric guitar performance and rippling, rising drums, Split Persona open Do It Again with intrigue and instrumental mastery before sharing the situational prose, “I met a girl outside of Bakersfield, I thought I was dreaming, but it was real…”
We immediately appreciate Split Persona‘s unique style of narrative based songwriting, and the emotion that they convey with their lived experience. We learn that the opus tells the romantic story of two people meeting and connecting at a concert, who never see each other again, but keep each other “deep in mind”.
The instrumental prowess that the band share is tangible, showcasing their refined approach to song creation, and including an out-of-this-world guitar solo with creative production nuances in line with the lyricism.
Do It Again has a relatable message and evokes a sense of nostalgia with its sound and message, although the mix and sonic design is progressive, creating a unique and bold offering from the Reno-based band.
The four piece cite Mammoth WVH, Foo Fighters, and Turnstile as some of their influences, although it is clear that Split Persona are creating a universe of their own. We love Do It Again and the wholesome vibe that Split Persona convey with their authentic and inspiring artistry. The track has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Split Persona including their 2020 self-titled EP!
