When the enigmatic Frank Joshua releases a new track, we always know that we are in for a treat, and can expect a refined, often genre expansive journey. If we have the chance to experience the song early, it makes the listening experience feel all the more special, and that is what we are getting with his new single, Bluebell Wood, out Friday.
Bluebell Wood is available to pre-save now, and is Frank Joshua’s first single from his upcoming third album and his 22nd release in just over two years. A preview of the single is available on YouTube now, and it sounds majestic as ever.
We learn that the lyrics “delve into the gap between first blush and commitment in a new romance. The fear and hope that collides within us as we tentatively explore someone else’s feelings and compare them to our own”, and the sonic landscape features hints of Arabic rhythms fused with Frank’s incredible ability to create a story and design with his words
We love the universe that Frank Joshua embodies as he opens the song with the introspective lyrics, “So if I asked and really really meant it, not that I wouldn’t but not that I do, and if I said it like I wasn’t joking, jokes apart, what would you do?”, expanding to a more romantic and playful plot. He says, “The song is trying to dig into the unease of new love in a world where ‘catching feelings’ is a bad thing.”
The production of the track is naturally out of this world and created with Frank’s production partner Tony White with emotive keys, textured drums and Frank’s luscious vocal timbre. The strings arrangement is beautiful and brings to life the adventurous elements of the chorus.
On Friday, we will be adding Bluebell Wood to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and in the meantime, we continue to stream Frank Joshua‘s wider discography including the iconic Loneliest Place in the World.
