Setting the tone with a dimensional synth and compressed vocals, Kurst opens The Oracle with intrigue and dimensionality, as he shares evocative prose with some familiar references. We love the vocal harmonies and how intricate Kurst‘s flow is, laced with poetic prowess and wisdom. The opus expands with Kurst‘s imaginative words and evocative themes based around his reality, fused with nods to pop culture.
Speaking on the release, the Canadian rising star says, “This originally began as a writing exercise to challenge myself to incorporate as many Disney movie references as possible into one song. It quickly turned into my own personal journal with plenty of double entendres.”
We learn that Kurst is an acronym for King Under Really Stressful Times, which immediately allows us to connect with the artist on a deeper level. He confesses that the name “was inspired during a difficult time in my life. This is where I really started to take music seriously, as it provided me a therapeutic outlet and a form of expression.”
We appreciate the cathartic nature of Kurst‘s creative venture, and there is no doubt that his flow is high concept, intellectualised and authentically designed to add value to the listeners experience. He comments, “I pride myself in having a natural knack for storytelling and raw lyricism. My lyrics have always been my strongest asset.”
Kurst leaves us with the empowering message, “I truly believe everybody should wake up every day excited, because they are pursuing something that they are passionate about.” Naturally, we have added The Oracle to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Kurst‘s wider discography including Dont Trust Em, and Slasher.
