Last year, we had the honour of featuring the talented Clare Easdown for her releases of the powerful and atmospheric, Your Eyes Are Ice, the vulnerable and immersive new single, I’ll Wait, and the empowering Injected, so when we heard that she was kicking off 2023 with the release of Burned Into My Past, we simply had to listen and feed back.
Opening with a vinyl texture, elegant keys and ethereal vocals singing the title of the track, Clare Easdown confesses, “Ooh, you’re burned into my past, you and I were never going to last…”
We are immediately in awe of the soundscape and Clare’s vibrato vocal delivery with her signature atmospheric vibe. As the track expands, we experience a riser leading to textured drums, as Clare shares her authenticity and poetic prose. The instrumental segments are out of this world, and we love the keys which hold a sense of nostalgia, although the sound design, created with Simon Pipe, is progressive.
Speaking on the message of the song, Clare Easdown confesses, “Burned Into My Past is deep poetry alluding to losing someone you love. When you know in your heart they aren’t good for you so you etch them, burn them into your history and close the door.”
The star continues, “We have all been through it, the times where you yearn so much to see them and hold them close, however they are burned like flames into the pages of your past. It’s a song about love, about loss and most importantly ‘letting go…'”
We love what Clare Easdown shares with her artistry, and the introspective nature of the composition as she seeks to better understand reality and expand her own knowledge, along with those privileged enough to listen to her voice.
Burned Into My Past has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Clare Easdown‘s wider discography, and anticipate future releases from the visionary.
