Setting the tone with an astral guitar energy, Sedated Sunrise opens Grids with intrigue and atmospheric vocals as he delivers situational prose and metaphorical constructs to bring to life his vision.
The opus expands into a luscious, dream pop vibe as the artist, also known as John Mueller from Glassboro, shares an eloquent perspective with the use of guitar, electronic drums, and synthesizers.
Speaking on the message of Grids, Sedated Sunrise confesses, “The single has to do with the urge to drive away, change your identity, start fresh, and then wonder if even all of that will change your life enough.”
He adds with depth, “The story portrays the narrator as being desperate for a change of routine, a new lifestyle, or maybe even a brand new lease on life. It is emotional, melancholy, but very relatable.”
We immediately appreciate the authenticity that Sedated Sunrise creates with, and the transcendental edge that Grids has to offer, as a unique composition, designed wholly by the artist using an AKG 2000B microphone and Logic Pro X.
John cites Turnover, Modern Baseball, The Cure, Slowdive, Current Joys, Mac Miller, Pink Floyd, John Mayer, and Mac Demarco as some of his influences, which we can feel come through with Grids, although it is clear that Sedated Sunrise is creating a universe of his own.
We have added Grids to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Sedated Sunrise‘s wider discography including Curing a Hangover.
