Last year, we had the honour of featuring Blake Yung for his emotive and powerful track, Loaded, so when we heard that the star had kicked off 2023 with GTFO, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Establishing the mood with industrial, electric guitar, Blake Yung opens GTFO with a fierce vocal delivery and the assertive prose, “Tell me what you’ve been missing? Cause b*tch I am livin’, anointed I’m gifted, get the f*ck out my kitchen, get the f*ck out…”
We immediately appreciate the manner in which Blake channels his independence with his anthemic lyricism and sounds design. The opus expands into a nu metal meets emo rap hybrid energy, as the visionary creator from Los Angeles delivers his truth.
The message of GTFO is abundantly clear, as Blake Yung allows us an insight into his complexed mind, whilst he decodes a complicated situation with his muse. Naturally, GTFO comes with an out-of-this-world music video featuring an epic performance from our protagonist, as he battles not only his inner demons, but also the police as he is paper bagged and questioned in an almost Matrix-style set up.
We always love the dynamic and complexed nature of Blake Yung‘s creativity, and GTFO is no exception. He bares his soul, and uses music as a medium of catharsis for his woes that helps himself and his listeners alike.
We learn that GTFO is produced by multi-platinum producer Jake Magness (The Used, MGK, Travis Barker, Yungblud, Escape The Fate) and Do Better (RMR, Tyla Yaweh), we love the design of the soundscape, and can only imagine how Blake’s brand of progressive nu-metal could be experienced live!
GTFO has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Blake Yung’s wider discography including Loaded, Wildflower and Hollow.
