Setting the tone with an immersive art rock energy, C-Beem opens Starships with intrigue, as we begin a cosmic journey with the multi-disciplinary artist from Leicester. The opus expands with nuanced production design to unveil a cohesive tapestry of sound, laced with poetic prowess and an inspiring message.
Speaking on the inception and intention of the track, C-Beem, also known as Chris Mills, confesses, “The idea of music artists having their own spaceships just brings a huge smile to my face, and I want Starships to celebrate that whole music sensibility of imagination, colour and, in today’s context: a kind of creative nostalgia.”
We appreciate the metaphorical concept of the piece and the inclusive way that C-Beem creates, with his peers in mind. With reference to the design of the artwork, and indeed the sonic landscape, C-Beem tells us, “This track’s space-disco, synth, rockpop vibes owe much to ELO – the cover graphic I designed is to deliberately echo their classic album Out Of The Blue – a product of the golden age of great album covers.”
Unafraid to reference or not to reference, it is clear that C-Beem is creating a universe and identity of his own. His sound and message are delivering vast radio plays, as he invites to to “Get yourself your own Starship. EVERYONE should have their own Starship!”
We love the hook, “Starships, gonna build you all a landing strip, I’ll be waiting with my glowing sticks, no matter what time you make your hit…”, and how the artist is manifesting success with his words.
We appreciate the authenticity and uniqueness that C-Beem creates with, and continue to stream C-Beem‘s wider discography including Dancing Inside and Hollow.
