Setting the tone with a rising atmospheric vocal detailing and strummed acoustic guitar, CeCe opens Problems with situational lyricism as she delivers the evocative prose, “Everything was going alright, until you came and fucked up my life, I’m so tired of being polite, how the hell do you sleep at night? Too bad it’s over now, so sad you should be leaving, good chat ’bout to get even…”
The opus expands into an alternative rock meets contemporary pop soundscape as CeCe delivers a somewhat mesmerizing and super catchy chorus. We appreciate the nostalgic elements in the sonic design, and the vocal production with cerebral, reverbed nuances really gives the track a dimensional edge.
Problems has a relatable message, and we love the way that CeCe switches up her flow to share fierce poetic prowess and command of the narrative. We learn that the song was written “to get revenge for a friend who was brutally cheated on by their fiancé. It is the ultimate “F*#@ YOU FOR CHEATING ON ME” record.”
The rising star from Los Angeles continues, “This song gives anyone whose ever been betrayed by someone they love an outlet to be as petty and spiteful as they want. It gives them catharsis they need to leave that person [and] pain behind and truly move on.”
The depth and authenticity that CeCe shares is tangible, and we are in awe of the anthemic final reprise with an out of this world guitar performance to further amplify the emotive nature of the piece.
We have added Problems to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream CeCe‘s wider discography including FUEO and Broke AF.
