Setting the tone with whirring guitars, textured percussion, bold drums and a cerebral commentary, Water Rise opens Escape with intrigue, dimensionality, atmospheric vocals and situational lyricism, laced with metaphors.
We immediately appreciate the depth of the prose and the poetic prowess that Water Rise delivers with the opus. The responsive echoes add a dynamic nature to the already high octane soundscape.
Escape expands with a 90s meets blues-rock energy, as we are taken on a journey through the psyche and experience of Water Rise. The authenticity that he shares is tangible, and as we learn more about the artist, we are even more mesmerized.
When discussing his moniker, Water Rise confesses, “I like this name because it has a lot of meaning. – First of all because our planet earth is not in good shape and it’s not going to get any better. I’m worried about the legacy we’ll leave to our children. With all the climate changes we are currently experiencing, it is obvious to me to support this cause.”
The Parisian artist continues, “Then I like the idea of an unstoppable rock band, a bit like water that you can’t stop when it gushes. When I compose, it’s a bit in this state of mind that I find myself, the ideas flow and I can’t stop it.”
We love the depth that Water Rise shares with his sound and message and he self-describes as “a musician who doesn’t hesitate to collaborate with other artists to give you a great experience.” Water Rise is a visionary multi-instrumentalist, “a bassist and guitarist who is attached to percussive bass and drums combos and who fleshes out around them with a multitude of instruments.”
We have added Escape to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Water Rise‘s wider discography including the instrumental version of Escape, and anticipate future releases from the rising star.
