Last year, we had the honour of featuring Sadie Nix for her emotive and inspiring debut, Taylor Case (That Means You), and her passionate and assertive single, Same Song, so when we heard that she was kicking off 2023 with Oblivious, needless to say, we were excited to listen!
Drawing us in with elegant piano, Sadie Nix opens Oblivious with heartfelt prose, as she sings, “Hey, it’s me, I thought I’d try to catch you before you go to sleep, I’ll try to justify the reason for my late night call in case you didn’t already know…”
The opus expands with textured drums and a luscious frequency to unveil an emotive contemporary pop-rock hybrid soundscape as Sadie bares her soul with vulnerable lyricism.
We can always count on Sadie Nix for authenticity and a robust and anthemic sound; Oblivious is no exception. Speaking on the message of the release, Sadie confesses, “Oblivious is the ultimate heartbreak song as mourning something that never was or could be is so much lonelier then a traditional breakup.”
The star continues, “I wanted this track to have a darker maybe a more rock edge than my previous releases. I wanted my listers to really feel the desperation as the track builds.”
The talented artist from Brighton, England is originally from the US, and elaborating on her artistry, she tells us, “I really want to create music that has a story, and that people can relate to.” With reference to her wisdom, she adds, “Starting my music career much later in life has given a completely different perspective on life and creating music.”
We appreciate the charisma and depth that Sadie Nix delivers with her performance and songwriting, and there is no doubt that fans of Adele and Taylor Swift would be able to connect with Sadie’s art. She also cites Dolly Parton, The Cure, and Prince as influences.
We have added the emotive Oblivious to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Sadie Nix‘s first two singles, and anticipate future releases from the rising artist!
