Setting the tone with a rippling, bright guitar soundscape and textured drums, HIGHWAYVES open FRAME IT with intrigue, dimensionality, atmospheric vocals and metaphorical constructs. The opus expands into an intimate and thought-provoking new wave meets indie-rock hybrid, and we are mesmerized.
The artistic collective share depth and poetic nuance with intimate lyricism, as they take us on an emotive and anthemic journey. We appreciate the philosophical and personal subject matter of FRAME IT, as well as the charismatic delivery from the collective. Mid way through the track, we experience a high octane moment with luscious vocal harmonies before a meditative bridge leading us to an iconic final reprise.
Speaking on the history and narrative of the FRAME IT, HIGHWAYVES confess, “We were in love. Our desires blinded us to the fact that we were poison for each other. We’d fight, cry, make up and end up spending the night together. That resolution made us feel like we were meant for each other despite everything else screaming that we weren’t, but we were kids in love.”
We learn that the track was mixed by HIGHWAYVES and mastered by Robin Schmidt (The 1975, YUNGBLUD, Beabadoobee). The collective are set to release more tracks this year, and tell us that their “uncompromising approach is the key to creating a deep connection” with their audience.
We appreciate the authenticity and quality that HIGHWAYVES share with their sound, and have added FRAME IT to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the talented collective.
