Last year, we had the honour of featuring Clay Joule for his introspective single, Memories and his ode to pet love with the evocative and inspiring, Nothing Like Loving You, so when we heard that he had released REALM on New Year’s Day, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Drawing us in with textured keys, syncopated percussion and a distinguished bagpipe, Clay Joule opens REALM with intrigue, dimensionality and his signature vocal timbre as he shares the situational prose, “The blank sheet of paper, wordlessness echoes…”
We are immediately mesmerized by the introspective vibe of REALM as Clay Joule shares his depth and vocal range. We appreciate the build of the opus, and theatrical nature of REALM with a luscious strings arrangement.
Speaking on the message of the release, Clay confesses, “The song conveys a heartwarming and important message about the disparity and love that resulted from the lockdown between the people and authority.”
We learn that the “White Paper Movement” influenced Clay Joule to write REALM, which started as a poem at first. The music arrangement features fellow composer Tindaro Raffaele and Clay Joule himself, who have brought to life the original prose with an incredible soundscape.
The track comes with an out of this world music video which takes us on a trip to the astral realm and beyond, and features a cinematic series of shots showcasing the iconic bagpipe performance.
REALM, according to Joule, “is non-political and has no specific georegion.” He tells us, “It carries no intention to point fingers at any wrongdoing or negative aspects of governance. It is praising the beautiful and lovable deeds that lent to the people through good decisions made by the world of leaderships in firm contractry.”
