Drawing us in with vibrant synthscape with intricate and dynamic percussion detailing, Bromsen open The Photograph with intrigue, dimensionality and atmospheric vocals.
The opus expands into a cohesive indietronica delight as the duo from Berlin take us through their dreams. Speaking on the message of The Photograph, Bromsen confess, “The song is about the rock’n’roll dreams we had when we were young and which look like a faded photograph after some time, but something from that special perspective on live keeps sticking in your head and never fully goes away, so the negative is still there but nobody knows where it exactly is (and maybe we don’t even want to know, we just want to celebrate that feeling).”
We are immediately drawn in by the authenticity and message of the piece, as well as how anthemic and charismatic the delivery of the song is. The instrumental performances are out of this world, and we connect with the vocal range that Bromsen share with their emotive and profound prose.
The Photograph features a touch of nostalgia with a dose of futurism in the mix as the duo “time travel back to Berlin in the early 2000s when their previous band the pampelmuse was active.” We learn that the single is actually co-written together with their old bandmate Manzari and it includes a nod to their original sound.
The video is hypnotizing and showcases the band as they take us on a visual and cerebral journey through time, space and their home city. We love what Bromsen are creating, and have added The Photograph to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the band’s debut single, Merryman!
