Setting the tone with an enigmatic guitar melody and celestial textures, Carson Ferris opens Drive Alone with dimensionality, intrigue and an atmospheric pop vocal as he sings, “Should I stay or go, everyone tells me as if they know, feels like I’m being towed, like I’ve lost all control, my GPS shows West but the map takes me to the wrong address, oh yeah they all contest, which direction is best, no…”
Drive Alone expands into a luscious and introspective opus laced with poetic nuance and prowess, as the rising singer-songwriter “sifts through often contradictory advice on what he should do with his music.” We learn that the song is about finding his own path, and making the decisions that will get him where he wants to go!
We appreciate the sound design of the production, and Carson’s vocal timbre which is memorable, eloquent and full of tangible lyrical wisdom, despite his age. The song is produced by and co-written with Michael Van Wagoner, aka MYKYL.
“Drive Alone is a song about making hard decisions and having lots of people telling you that you should do this or that, and you just have to do what you know is best for you”, confesses Carson.
The song comes with a cinematic music video directed by Josh Sales, where Carson on the open road, bringing to life his message and thought-provoking lyricism with an outstanding and mesmerizing performance.
Carson Ferris has been “singing since before he can remember”, and started taking guitar lessons at the age of six. His favourite band of all time is Journey, and his music is influenced by oneRepublic and solo acts like Ed Sheeran and Alec Benjamin, but there is no doubt that Carson Ferris is creating a universe of his own.
We have added Drive Alone to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Carson Ferris‘s wider discography including Can’t Be Without You, and anticipate future releases from the star!
