Setting the tone with a narration vocal, high octane guitar and bold drums, SpünDay open While my guitar gently beeps with subversion and intrigue as they create a dimensional soundscape for the song which is a nod to the iconic track, While My Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beatles.
The opus expands with an industrial energy to take us on a cerebral journey laced with elements of electronica and heavy metal. Speaking on the release of the song, SpünDay confess, “While my guitar gently beeps is a stinging attack on the music industry establishment laziness, inability to take risks on new music for fear of upsetting the shareholders and constant re-issues, repackaging of the same music.”
We deeply appreciate the message that SpünDay are conveying with their release, which is a much needed, eye-opening perspective on the current state of the industry.
The band from Tonypandy, situated in the Rhondda Fawr Valley of Wales, consists of Paul on vocals and guitar, Daf on bass, and Matthew on drums. They share an industrial, psychedelic soundscape with their art, fused together with a sense of unequivocal rebellion.
They simply cite Melt Banana and a vivid imagination as their influences, which makes sense, as there is no doubt that what they are creating is highly unique. We love the message and out-of-this-world guitar performances, and how the song has a minimalist moment with an auction for a black Stratocaster guitar, before we are re-immersed into the chaotic soundscape that we have come to love from the trio.
While my guitar gently beeps has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to explore the wider discography of SpünDay including their album, Set Phasers to SpünDay!
