Setting the tone with an elegant, intricate acoustic guitar and luscious frequency, National Park Radio open Wander with a sense of intrigue as they deliver the situational prose, “Heading North from Jackson, in the great outdoors, let the river guide us, through the valley floor, though the wild we wander, you can find us there…”
We are immediately drawn into the narrative based journey that National Park Radio are taking us on, and we feel at one with the sentiment of the opus. Wander expands into a dynamic folk meets Americana hybrid as the duo from Fayetteville share poetic prowess and authenticity with their introspective nature and connection with planet Earth.
The duo confess that Wander is design to remind us that “life is all about the journey rather than the destination.” The visual lyricism of the piece is filled with imagery “the most iconic landscapes from the Tetons to the Ozarks”. The pair cite The Avett Brothers, The Lumineers, Caamp, The Head and The Heart, and First Aid Kit as some of their sonic peers, but it is clear that National Park Radio are creating a universe of their own.
We learn that Wander is taken from National Park Radio upcoming album Canyons, for which the husband and wife Stefan and Kerrie Szabo are dropping tracks regularly until the release of the album on May 29. Some track names include When The Morning Comes, Don’t Give Up The Ghost, and Gone To California.
We cannot wait to hear the record in full, and meanwhile, we have added Wander to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream National Park Radio‘s wider discography including Mighty Mountains, and There Is a Fire.
