Setting the tone with a dynamic indie pop meets folk pop hybrid soundscape with dimensional instrumentation and intrigue, Faith Zapata opens company with the emotive, situational lyrics, “I have so much of me to give, laying on my floor like I did, when I was seventeen, I crawled into the sheets…”
The opus expands with charm and charisma, as Faith Zapata shares her soul and raw authenticity with her listeners. We are hypnotized by the acoustic guitar performance, fused cohesively with Faith’s luscious and atmospheric vocals. It’s no surprise that the artist has already amassed over eighty thousand followers on TikTok, as we are in awe of every note she shares on company.
Speaking on the meaning of the song, Faith confesses, “company is a song about not wanting to end up alone, and trying to keep people in your life for as long as you possibly can, even if it’s clear you’ve outgrown each other. It’s about wanting someone who doesn’t necessarily want you — just someone. It’s about not caring whether the people you’re surrounding yourself with are good for you or not, and feeling like as long as you’ve got company — any company at all — that you’ll be okay.”
We appreciate the depth that she shares, and we learn that the track holds characteristics reminiscent of some of Faith’s biggest musical influences, such as Phoebe Bridgers, Taylor Swift, and Lizzy McAlpine, but there is no doubt that Faith Zapata is creating a universe of her own.
company was written, produced, and includes acoustic guitar and vocals by Faith herself, and features magical cello arrangements by Jordan Deckrow, as well as stunning electric guitar performed by JakeMusic. The composition was mixed by Aaron Marcus and Kevin Hackett.
We love the soundscape and energy that Faith Zapata conveys with her artistry, and have added company to our New Music Spotlight playlist. whilst we continue to stream Faith Zapata‘s wider discography including apollo and party in the alps.
