Setting the tone with immersive keys, percussion details and add libs singing “Keep it one hundred with me, I be too old for the games…”, Chughey opens Games with an introspective and self-realized energy as he shares his evocative prose.
The opus expands with depth and authenticity, showcasing layered vocals as Chughey delivers his perspective with poetic prowess. We appreciate the vulnerable moments, as well as the assertive moments, which only demonstrate the dimensionality of Chughey‘s reality, and the charisma that he shares his words with.
Speaking on the release of Games, Chughey confesses, “I wrote this song while being a shitty relationship, where the person I was with didn’t care to learn how to love me.”
The rising artist from North Charleston elaborates, “This song is based around that. It’s about finding someone who will learn how to love you while you learn how to love them, so you and your relationship can grow. It’s more of a melodic track that will take you on a rollercoaster of feelings.”
Chughey cites Mac Miller as one of his inspirations, which we feel come through in Games, although it is clear that he is creating a universe of his own.
We have added Games to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Chughey‘s wider discography including Rope Burn and MIDDLE GROUND.
