Juliet Callahan delivers prowess and dimensionality with new single, Ghost Girl

Setting the tone with a dark wave, enigmatic guitar melody, Juliet Callahan opens Ghost Girl with an immersive, trap-hybrid beat and the metaphorical lyrics, “She’s a Ghost Girl, fire in her eyes, she won’t blink twice, see the danger in her eyes…”

The opus expands fierce and evocative energy as Juliet Callahan shares her story with luscious, atmospheric vocals, poetic nuance and narrative depth. We appreciate the soundscape which fuses elements of pop, rock, emo and trap to create a genre expansive and exquisite tapestry, which fuses masterfully with Juliet’s charismatic delivery.

The instrumental outro of the composition is hypnotising, and we love the details of the vocal add libs. We learn that Ghost Girl is inspired by one of Juliet Callahan‘s favourite artists Lil Peep, which makes sense for the vibe conveyed with the piece.

Speaking on the meaning of Ghost Girl, Juliet confesses, “It is written in the third person about a girl who’s been through a lot but came out the other side stronger, wiser, and more independent [and] free.”

The star continues, “I began the writing process from the concept of a “Ghost Girl” which to me symbolizes the ghost of a girl who once put others before herself, reflected on the pain it caused her, which in turn taught her to love herself and empower herself in the process of moving on. The lyricism came naturally to me as that girl was once me. I wanted to share my perspective in the hope that my listeners, whether they can directly relate to the song or not, can take away that it is okay to feel sad, hurt, or vulnerable. Something valuable I learned is that facing the obstacle of negative emotions can help you to let go and discover a whole new side to yourself.”

We love the depth and authenticity that Juliet Callahan conveys with her message, and have added Ghost Girl to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whist we continue to stream her wider discography including Venom and Burning!

Juliet leaves us with some words on her craft by saying, “Writing is my therapeutic outlet to express myself. But I am also deeply motivated to write to whoever may be listening so that you all can feel like you’re not alone through the milestones we all face in the ups and downs of life. To know that others find solace in my music makes me feel complete and motivates me to keep working hard.”
