As mega fans of the artist Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L, we had to spotlight Double or Nothin before the end of the year. It has been an epic ride seeing the growth of the Brooklyn legend during 2022. It has been an expansive experience, where we have seen the releases of a slew of singles and evocative content from the star, and Double or Nothin is no exception.
Setting the tone with pitched down vocals and cerebral synthscape, Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L opens with the assertive lyrics, “Give me double or nothin, know you think that I’m frontin’, even when we were nothin’, I was never above it…”
We appreciate it when Breon sings, and his choice of vocal design. He has a philosophical way of sharing his soul and his reality into the microphone, and Double or Nothin is a great example of that.
As always, we vibe with the dimensional nature of the soundscape, and the sound design of the piece itself is pristine, bringing to life the narrative that Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L shares with the opus.
Speaking succinctly on his profound depth, the visionary artist simply says,”I think this song sums up a lot. Pain killers, love, I can’t leave you alone.”
We learn that Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L intention for the track was “to take listeners on a sonic experience” with his fusion of hard-hitting beats, heartwarming synths and well-penned, melodic bars.
He elaborates further with reference to the lyricism, “I think we all have that one person we just can’t leave alone no matter how hard we try. Love hurts.”
Alongside Double or Nothin, Breon also just dropped the visual for Protocol which has us mesmerised with blending swirling, colourful design with emotional and expressive footage of his recording process. We have added Double or Nothin to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Breon S.Y.N.D.E.L masterful discography on loop!
